Enjoyed dinner tonight at the newly opened Cactus Canyon in Argyle. The service was outstanding and the food was very good. It is Tex/Mex but with some unusual offerings. The salsa was excellent and was served very warm, which really added flavor and enjoyment. I had the cheese enchiladas with a nice carne sauce and the option of mexican rice or cilantro rice. We have been 4 times and had excellent experiences each time. Marty visited us on two of the occasions and asked for our feedback which was a nice touch. Love the atmosphere on the patio, especially when it's a bit cold out and they have all the heaters on with a cozy fire in the fireplace. The food was delicious & an upgrade for Tex-Mex in the area. But the service was outstanding. Our waiter, Bryce, was very pleasant & went out of his way to make our visit enjoyable. One of our party ordered the tacos & found the beef lacking in flavor. When she shared that with Bryce he promptly summoned the assistant manager, Seth. Seth went and taste-tested the taco meat, apologized & agreed that it was pretty bland & not up to their standards. He said that this would be corrected immediately. Most everybody had given us the same thing... the food is good, but it's extremely expensive and busy and difficult to get in. We went at 3:30pm on a Friday and got seats at the bar, but to be fair, just barely. It's very pretty, very on brand, the service is great (seems to be a Marty thing). They are very tequila based at the bar, did not have spiced rum for mom, but she found something. Noise was moderate. We enjoyed it and will be back.

Overall the food is fantastic, service was decent (pretty busy when we went) but it definitely is a bit pricey. We had the Canyon Combo fajitas and it was very good. For the average Joe like us, probably a special occasion place. Definitely worth a try. That's all the good. Now let me share the..well odd.. Its a shame they don't take reservations, but so be it. Food was good, server was nice and stayed on top of everyone drinks. The bad is do not go there if you are celebrating a birthday. I was IMMEDIATELY (rude) told they prefer you buy their desserts not bring your own birthday cake! I prefer to bring the kind/flavor of birthday cake the birthday boy/girl wants! Will go places that let me make special occasions special!

Had the off menu skirt steak. What.....the best I've ever had. Covered in Chimichura the beef was so tender it could have been rib eye. Loved the fried zucchini strips. The quality is worth higher prices. The salsa is similar to Papasitas and is out of this world. Can't wait to try Mexican beef short ribs. Yummy, yummy, yummy.

Food and mixed drinks were good altho extremely overpriced for Mexican food. Chicken enchiladas or Quesadillas should not count $20+. Basic house margarita is tasty but $9 for a very small glass! No happy hour prices on drinks or bar bites either is a deterrent compared to other competing establishments. Restaurant is very loud and tables / booths are small and cramped.
